101 – Transfer Policy

Guidelines and Safe Work Procedures for Transfers

Safe transfers are some of the most important work we do at Ten Ten Sinclair Housing Inc.

You need to make sure that your work area is safe. This means:

  • Wheelchair front wheels are pointing backward to prevent tripping
  • The bed is at the right height for you (bed at waist level while your knees are bent)
  • Keeping your back straight and your knees bent

If you feel that the environment you are working in is unsafe, you have the right to make changes to make it safe.
For example, if the bed is too low you can raise it while performing the task and return it to the low position once you are done.

These videos will show you safe methods to perform transfers with our tenants.

(If your supervisor has asked you to review these videos, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page once you are complete.)
